Filmmakers & Movie Nerds Filmmaking community
We started in 2022 as an international group of film enthusiasts based in Berlin. People from all over: different places, ages, backgrounds and skills. We make films together and get better by doing so. Some bring years of experience. Some are just getting started. Everyone has something to offer.
Filmmakers & Movie Nerds is a place where films actually get made. Every week, filmmakers show up, not to talk about making films someday, but to actually do it. With our organisation we run structured challenges, sprints, and workshops that take you from idea to finished film. From short to feature. We build the conditions for creative work: deadlines, accountability, and people who show up.
We are open to anyone who takes filmmaking seriously, has strong work ethics, an open growth mindset and a sense for community. People are welcome who want to create together, learn and share their knowledge to help each other. We are creating a save space for people and creations, so we strongly believe in our community guidelines and our code of conduct.
And we are more than a community of filmmakers
We are here built to support filmmakers at every stage of their journey. Our focus is on creating accessible, hands-on opportunities for people to learn, collaborate, and actually make films, rather than just talk about them. Through our organisation we bring filmmakers together through meetups, workshops, events, creative challenges, and collaborative productions that encourage experimentation, skill-building, and real-world experience.
Filmmakers & Movie Nerds e.V. is a registered nonprofit based in Berlin, founded in 2022. As a so-called “gemeinnütziger Verein” AKA NGO, we are committed to making filmmaking accessible, active and real; regardless of budget, experience or background. We believe in the power of community to get films made.
And this is much more than a networking event. More than a movie fan club. More than a Discord server with good intentions. It is a creative engine, an eco-system built around one idea: stop waiting – start creating!
