Support us and
new filmmakers
… and films that wouldn’t otherwise get made
Filmmakers & Movie Nerds e.V. is a registered nonprofit association in Berlin. Since 2022 we have run more than 180 Sunday meetups, three Movie Sprints, over 40 workshops and 15+ filmmaking challenges. Everything we do is free or close to it, and nobody on the team draws a salary.
That is deliberate. We believe access to filmmaking should not depend on having industry contacts, film school tuition or expensive gear. So we build the things that lower the barrier instead: structured challenges with real deadlines, screenings where first-time directors sit in the same room as award winners, and a community where the fastest way in is to offer your help on someone else’s set.
But running this costs money. Venue hire for screenings and sprints. Equipment we lend to members who don’t own any. Insurance and the administrative costs of keeping a registered association compliant. Prizes and certificates for challenge participants. Every euro goes directly into making the next film possible for someone who couldn’t have made it alone.
How you can help
Donate. Any amount goes straight into venues, gear and events. As a registered gemeinnütziger Verein, we can issue donation receipts for German taxpayers.
We’re setting up online donations. Until that’s live, a direct bank transfer is the simplest way to support us — and it means 100% of what you give reaches the work, with no processing fees taken out.
For now, you can donate directly onto our official account:

Want to give another way, discuss a larger contribution, or support a specific project? Email moritz@movienerds.com and we'll sort it out.
Become a partner. We work with studios, rental houses, film schools, festivals and brands who want to reach an active community of emerging filmmakers. Get in touch and we’ll find a format that fits.
Volunteer. We are always looking for people to help with events, social media, partnerships and grant writing. You’ll get real experience and a recognised certificate from a registered association.
Spread the word. Tell a filmmaker who’s stuck. That costs nothing, and it’s how most of our members found us.
Every contribution turns into something you can actually watch on a screen.
