Our Projects

What we actually do

These are not showreels from professionals. They’re films made by people who showed up on a Sunday, pitched an idea to a room of strangers, and had a finished short a few weeks later.

Our projects run on two tracks. Short-cycle productions move fast: small casts, easy locations, one or two shooting days, rotating roles, and a quick edit. They exist so people can learn by finishing something rather than planning forever. Longer projects get more time when the story earns it, with higher production values and more developed scripts. Several members are now working towards features.

Roles shift from film to film. Someone who ran sound on one shoot might direct the next. That’s the point: the fastest way to get better is to try the job you haven’t done yet, surrounded by people who will help you through it.

Since 2022 our members have completed more than a hundred short films across Movie Sprints, seasonal challenges and self-organised productions. Some screened at our own Shorts Show at Il Kino. Some travelled further. Most were made by people who, a year earlier, had never finished a film at all.

Below is a look behind the scenes: sets, crews, and the unglamorous reality of making something with the people around you.
