Partners

Filmmakers & Movie Nerds e.V. runs on partnership. We're a registered nonprofit with no paid staff, which means every workshop, screening, sprint and challenge we run exists because an organisation decided to back it.

Every partnership turns into something concrete.

A room becomes 170+ Sunday meetups. A camera rental account becomes gear in the hands of members who own none. A cinema becomes a monthly screening where first-time directors watch their own work on a real screen. An institution's expertise becomes a workshop that forty people attend for free.

What our partners make possible

Every partnership turns into something concrete.

A room becomes 170+ Sunday meetups. A camera rental account becomes gear in the hands of members who own none. A cinema becomes a monthly screening where first-time directors watch their own work on a real screen. An institution's expertise becomes a workshop that forty people attend for free.

We work with four kinds of partner:

Spaces and venues. The rooms where we meet, screen and shoot. Workish Neukölln hosts our weekly meetups. Il Kino Neukölln hosts The Shorts Show.

Equipment and technology. Rental houses and manufacturers who put gear within reach of filmmakers who can't afford it — 25p Kameraverleih, Sirui Europe, TRGRS Studios, Seceda Studios.

Education and industry. Film schools, festivals and industry organisations who share expertise, judge our challenges and open doors: SAE Institute, Filmfest München, Berlin Music Video Awards, Cinemadamare, Unikino TU Berlin.

Organisational support. Partners who help us function as an association rather than just a group of enthusiasts.

What partnership actually looks like

We're not selling ad space. These are working relationships: you provide something our community genuinely needs, and you get direct access to an active group of emerging filmmakers in Berlin and beyond.‍ ‍

Depending on what fits, that can mean:

  • Visibility at events, screenings and across our channels

  • Direct contact with filmmakers who are actively making work, not just talking about it

  • Involvement in judging, mentoring, or running a workshop

  • Association with a nonprofit that has a four-year track record and the receipts to show for it

Since 2022 we've run three Movie Sprints, two community film festivals, more than 40 workshops, 15+ filmmaking challenges and over 170 meetups. Our members have finished more than a hundred short films between them.

Work with us‍ ‍

If your organisation works with filmmakers, gear, spaces, education or film culture, there's likely a version of this that fits you. Tell us what you do and we'll figure out the rest together.
