Speaker Events is where the Filmmakers & Movie Nerds bring in people who are actually doing it: directors, editors, DPs, producers, festival programmers and more They share how they got here. Someone with experience talking about their journey: what worked, what didn't, and what they'd tell their younger selves.
One month it might be a director walking through how their first short ended up on the festival circuit. Another month, an editor breaking down how they actually got hired, or a producer explaining what a budget really looks like before anyone touches a camera. The only rule is that it has to be true and it has to be useful — the kind of thing you'd only get by asking someone over drinks, not by watching a panel.
That's the whole point of Filmmakers & Movie Nerds: watching movies is great, but making them is better, and hearing directly from people who are already making them is the fastest way to close the gap between the two. You leave with fewer illusions about the industry and a clearer sense of your own next move.
Every session wraps with an open Q&A and a hangout afterwards, because the best advice usually comes once the mic is off.
